When Michael D'Andrea won the national gold medal for baking as a high school student, it was obvious he was destined for greatness. He continued to pursue his love of pastry arts at the Culinary Institute of American in NYC, and immediately upon graduating, took on his next big adventure: Colarusso's Bakery.
The family-owned bakery has been around for nearly half a century, but since Michael took over in 2001, its reach has only expanded. Now along with his wife and children, Michael continues to craft the sweet and savory specialties that have made Colarusso's a local institution. Folks know they can go here to order a specialty cake crafted to their exact specifications for a special occasion, but you don't need an excuse to grab something sweet. Stop by any afternoon to enjoy an Italian cookie, mini pastry, or even something savory such as a calzone.
